While both Jon and I had holiday parties with our work, we decided to skip them this year. We really need to be better about taking date nights and enjoy time with other adults…but honestly…when you have two small kids it’s a lot of work to get dressed up and go out at night. And we are kind of homebodies. And we kinda love spending time as a family. Lame I know. Fellow moms – I bet a lot of you know what I’m talking about! But that doesn’t mean I can’t still enjoy a little festive dressing for more low key holiday events like dropping off gifts, kids school events, or even just running errands.

Ok so these jeans…these are my magic jeans. I’m just a little obsessed. I’ve always been a big fan of the AG Legging Ankle jeans & have a number of pairs, however they are more of a mid rise fit. And after having two kids I definitely have a bit of an issue in the tummy area. These Farrah jeans are the perfect high rise – high enough to suck everything in, but not crazy high mom jeans. And they have just the right amount of stretch. Buy them…you will thank me! And these shoes were a Black Friday score. I was looking for some fun festive shoes to wear around the holidays, that were still practical enough I could wear running around to work or with the kids. They are now sold out, but I’ve linked some other fun options!IMG_3398Sweater: J Crew (hard to see in pics but has fun pom poms!), Scarf: J Crew Factory, Jeans: AG, Shoes: J Crew, Bag: Gucci – Evan’s outfit: Zara

We had been debating a little winter getaway over Christmas up to our favorite place in the whole world…which just so happens to be a quick 2 hour drive up the road from us! Sun Valley Idaho is just magical. It is incredibly beautiful, manages to combine upscale shopping & dining with a rustic down to earth feel, and has so many fun things to do. It is a very popular ski destination in the winter & gets crazy busy over the holidays, and it’s not uncommon to spot celebrities there this time of year (we sat 2 tables over from John Kerry at breakfast which was kinda surreal!). So at the last minute we decided to take Cole out of school a few days early & spend a few days up there before the holiday rush started. We actually went on the perfect day because just hours after arriving the snow began & it snowed much of the time we were there! We ate some delicious meals, did a bit of shopping, went skiing, ice skating, and even took a horse drawn carriage ride (sadly there wasn’t enough snow to take the sleigh so we are hoping we might be able to go again later in the season!). The kids had an absolute blast playing in the snow & just walking around Sun Valley’s adorable little village taking in their pretty Christmas decorations & ice sculptures.

Now that we are home, I’m off to do a last bit of Christmas shopping & gather up all of our groceries for a weekend filled with baking goodies with my little helpers! Only 3 more days…
