If you follow my Instagram, you saw this quote…”It is the period between Christmas and New Year’s. No one knows what day it is. Time doesn’t really exist. Existence is confusion.” I saw this & totally cracked up because it has really summed up this week. After all of the preparation & excitement leading up to Christmas, it kind of feels like we are in this weird limbo of the holiday being over and awaiting the New Year to get back to real life. We’ve all been strangely tired, but don’t want to just waste our vacation being completely lazy (although we’ve been a little lazy too!). I did want to go check out some of the after Christmas sales so we did venture out one day this week for a bit of shopping. I bought this sweater right before Christmas thinking it would be perfect for the holidays and I didn’t realize from the photos that it actually has gold sparkly thread in the fair isle pattern! It’s much prettier in person than in photos, and would even be a cute sweater for a casual NYE. It is on major sale right now too!
You can kind of see the gold threads in this photo! I love this scarf too – it’s several years old from J Crew but I found a nearly identical one that I’ve linked above!
We have also been trying to take advantage of the Christmas snow we got and have some fun playing in it! We’ve played outside in our yard, gone tubing, and went skiing at our local ski resort. My hubs spoiled me with a new ski suit for my birthday a few months back, and I highly recommend these pieces! This coat is not only super cute but also very functional and comfortable! It comes in several colors, but I really love this rich pink color (Sangria). We took Evan skiing for his first time and he had an absolute blast! After going down the little magic carpet hill a few times (and he was giggling uncontrollably!) we headed right up the lift. I’ve been looking forward to skiing together as a family for the past few years so it was a really special day.
So I saw the funniest article on Scary Mommy about NYE with kids the other day. If you are a mom you have to read it because it is all SO true! (Link here) New Year’s Eve is kind of a weird holiday to celebrate when you have kids and I don’t think I’ve even managed to stay awake until midnight in years! Luckily we have lots of friends in the same boat, and a friend of ours is having a family friendly NYE party that we are looking forward to attending! Although I have to admit – I kind of love the idea of “Noon Year’s Eve Party” – that is genius parenting right there. How are you celebrating New Year’s Eve?!
Wishing you a happy and safe New Year’s Eve, and a wonderful 2018 full of happiness, love, and prosperity!
