The Perfect Lace Blouse Styled 6 Ways

The Perfect Lace Blouse Styled 6 Ways

Lace Blouse (also here)

I have been on the hunt for ages for the perfect lace blouse…as in I’ve been looking for probably 2 years now. I wanted it to be something that was very versatile and could be styled a multitude of ways, was lined, and looked luxe while not being crazy expensive. This blouse (which is under $100!) is pretty much everything my lace blouse dreams were made of! Today I’m sharing with you a fun little try-on session I had the other day coming up with some of my favorite ways to wear it!

I see myself wearing this blouse styled this way for the next month or two as a transition piece from winter to spring! I think it would also be really cute styled with my beige suede moto jacket as well.Blouse // Cardigan // Jeans // Booties // Similar Rag & Bone Hat // Bag

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, as well as February being heart month with many benefits/fundraisers happening, this would be a perfect romantic look for date night or outfit to wear to a dressy fundraiser.Blouse // Skirt (old DVF, similar here) // Shoes (amazing dupes here!) // Bag // Similar Earrings

Even though it’s not exactly feeling like it outside at the moment, spring isn’t far away! I think this outfit would be perfect for a spring wedding, Easter, or for a baby/bridal shower. Blouse // Skirt (old ASOS, similar here) // Shoes (amazing dupes here!) // Bag // Similar Earrings

This would be an outfit I would wear for a date night with my hubby, or for a fun girls night out!Blouse // Moto Jacket // Jeans // Heels // Bag // Similar Earrings

I love wearing monochromatic looks for work, and I love pairing this top with pale neutrals like beige.Blouse // Skirt // Pumps (old Kurt Geiger, similar here) // Bag // Similar Earrings

How I will most frequently wearing this top! Definitely a great outfit for day to day running to appointments, meeting friends for lunch, or even just looking a bit more polished for volunteering at my kids’ schools!Blouse // Jeans // Belt // Shoes (great dupes here!) // Bag // Similar Earrings

What To Wear To Disney World In January

What To Wear To Disney World In January

When you plan a trip south during the winter months, I know there is always the assumption that the weather is going to be warm. However after living in Southern California for eight years, I am well aware this isn’t always the case. When we planned our trip to Disney World for January, I expected the weather to be cooler and unpredictable and packed accordingly…and am so thankful I did because we had a few days there where the temps were nearly the same as it was back home in Idaho! I met a few gals at our hotel who were visiting from South America and had only brought shorts, and were pretty much freezing and miserable. We had pretty wild temperature swings while we were there, and it could be anywhere from 40 degrees to 70 degrees, even on the same day! We dressed in layers, and carried backpacks to carry extra layers or shed them during the warmest parts of the day. I packed a mix of short & long sleeve tees, sweatshirts, and warm coats for morning & evening. We also made sure to wear comfortable shoes, because we averaged 7-10 miles a day walking through the parks! Our hotel had laundromats located throughout the property, so we washed & re-wore things several times to cut down on the amount of stuff we brought, and it also allowed us to dry wet coats & shoes. I also packed things all in the same color scheme, so I could easily mix & match – and it all coordinated with my red & black sequin Minnie ears! The day we took off from going to the parks was actually quite warm, and we were able to go swimming – so I would recommend bringing a swimsuit even during the winter months! I also packed gloves for the kids for the evenings when it was coldest. Even though the weather certainly wasn’t hot, we enjoyed the mild temperatures since we were so active, as well as the overall smaller crowds in January – and we would definitely go visit in January again!

I packed some disposable emergency ponchos so we could just toss them & not have to worry about bringing them back home. Also this stroller is amazing – I even got stopped by a few fellow parents who asked about it! It’s super affordable and is very sturdy, plus it has great storage, a reclining seat, and a sunshade.

January Buys

Today I just wanted to share a quick post of a few recent buys from the past few weeks that I’m loving! First up is this super cute Drunk Elephant set. We are headed on vacation & little sample sizes are perfect for travel and fun to try while on vacation! I’m really eager to try the D-Bronzi for a little vacation glow & the Marula Oil is supposed to be really great.Drunk Elephant Out of Office Set also here

I also grabbed my favorite brand of retinol. I’ve been using the .5% for years, so I just upped to the 1% and boy is it strong! I’m definitely peeling a bit, so I’m only going to use this every 3 days or so & work my way up.img_9778Skinmedica Retinol

This is my absolute favorite brow pencil! I go through one of these every few months.Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz

I love Hanky Panky underwear but hate the price. I recently discovered these & they are amazing dupes! And you can’t beat 2 pairs for $9.97! I highly recommend these!Felina Lace Thong

I snagged these AG Farrahs which are one of my fav style of jeans on sale! Just a nice medium wash and I love the raw hem. And I apologize for the wrinkles on this blouse – I literally just took it out of the package! This color is just so phenomenal & unique…I couldn’t resist and it was on sale!Jeans // Blouse

I absolutely adore the rib detailing on this sweater and it is so soft! And it’s on sale.Sweater

I actually got this several weeks back during J Crew’s big after Christmas clearance. I love a good fair isle sweater. It’s still available and on sale and comes in 3 color options.Sweater

Another pretty blouse in a unique color that was on sale! I love the ruffle details and I’ve been trying to add more gray/silver to my wardrobe.Blouse

Last up – these moto leggings! I’ve been eyeing these for years & when they went on sale a few weeks back I decided to snag them. They fit really amazing with a super high waist that just sucks everything in!Moto Leggings

Scenes from Christmas (and after Christmas sales!)

Scenes from Christmas (and after Christmas sales!)

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! We sure had a fun week celebrating the holiday and made the most of our few days off school before Christmas! Friday night we bundled up and went to the Winter Garden Aglow at the Botanical Gardens which is one of our favorite pre-Christmas activities! The gardens are lit up with so many beautiful lights, and they also have food trucks, carolers, and fire pits scattered throughout to warm up at. Santa was also there and the kids got to make one last visit with him to tell him their wish lists!img_8416

Saturday I braved the crowds for my Christmas dinner grocery shopping. And of course no Christmas prep is complete without making cookies for Santa! We spent Saturday evening making dozens of cookies so the kids could make their perfect cookies to give the big man.Processed with VSCO with a6 presetSweater // Scarf // Jeans // Boots // Bag // Sunglassesimg_8512

Sunday we headed out for a little ice skating! Ev had never skated before so it took a lot of convincing to get him to try it. But eventually he worked up the courage to give it a try and he ended up having fun! (Even though his face says the opposite!) We even lucked out with a little snow flurry while we were skating. My Coat (Zara) // Scarf (J Crew – old similar here) // Hat

Christmas Eve we spent the evening driving around looking at the Christmas lights! There were a few really incredible displays near our home, and at one we got out and had hot cocoa and candycanes with Santa! When we got home we had our annual Christmas Eve tradition of opening one gift – matching pajamas which we all wore to bed!

Christmas morning! The kids were just giddy with excitement and Cole even kept saying “it felt like a dream!” There’s just nothing like experiencing your kid’s joy on Christmas and it really is magical. Our Pajamas

Last night we headed out to go see the new Spider-Man movie! I only got to see the first half because the little one got restless so we went to the lobby so my hubs and Cole could finish the movie. They said it was amazing & I look forward to renting it when it comes out! We went out for Mexican food after and ended up staying out pretty late so we are all dragging a bit today. We’ve been spending a lot of our holiday week just relaxing in jammies at home, and it’s been a really wonderful break. I think today is our last day of enjoying our Christmas decorations, and I’m ready to take them down tomorrow to bring in the New Year with a tidied house. My Coat // Tunic Sweater // Leggings // Boots // Bag

There are SO many amazing after Christmas sales happening right now. I’ve already grabbed a few things I had been eyeing, and there’s still several more things I’m considering! Here’s a few of the best things I’ve found:

Nordstrom Nordstrom’s Half Yearly sale is on! My favorite jeans (that I’m wearing above) are on sale and they are such a great fitting jean. It’s also a great time to grab some classic Ugg boots, or a splurge like this gorgeous Vince coat or sweater. I’m also eying this adorable puff sleeve sweater and these cute booties.

J Crew J Crew is having an additional 50% off of their sale styles and there are some great deals to be had! I already snagged this parka that I’ve been wanting for a few years now, and I think this coat and this coat are gorgeous too. I love this velvet bow (like Kate Middleton has been wearing!) and these glitter/tartan heels are stunning. I also ordered this Fair Isle sweater which will be so pretty all winter long. And I’m loving these pretty wrap dresses in crepe and velvet.

Macy’s I love Free People Sweaters and this one and this one are both on major sale! These wine colored Uggs are super cute and I’m also loving these blush colored Nike’s. There are some great deals on home items like this Nespresso, this Vitamix, and I have a Shark vacuum and love it.

H&M has so many great deals, many under $20! This sweater is so chic, I love this dainty pointelle sweater, this under $10 draped v-neck sweater would go with anything, and these pajamas would be so cute for Valentines Day. I’m really tempted to try these jeans for under $10, and I really like this oversized cable knit sweater. This mohair sweater and this knit sweater are great basics, and this oversize houndstooth print sweater looks much more expensive than it is. This faux fur bomber is so cute and this is a great price for a classic cashmere sweater.

And a few last things – at Bloomingdales I’m loving this wash of my favorite AG jeans on sale, and at Abercrombie I think these tops and this button back tunic sweater are super cute. At Shopbop I think this (still pricey on sale) cardigan is gorgeous, I really like the neutral gray/taupe color of these shearling trim hiking boots, I love this sweater with the button sleeve detail, and these leopard booties are super cute. And these boots are a gorgeous splurge!

Our 2018 Christmas Cards

Our 2018 Christmas Cards

Last month we had our annual family photos taken with Tamara Kenyon who has been taking our photos for years! If you live in the Boise area (or anywhere in the US – she does travel!) I can’t recommend her enough. She’s insanely talented, amazing with kids, and just makes the entire shoot a pleasure (which let’s face it – family photos can be a stressful nightmare!).

We went for a more formal look this year, which is a departure from our typical shoots, and I love how they turned out! I had our cards made at Minted and I just love the monochromatic look and simplicity of them.©Tamara Kenyon Photography |©Tamara Kenyon Photography |©Tamara Kenyon Photography |©Tamara Kenyon Photography |©Tamara Kenyon Photography |©Tamara Kenyon Photography |©Tamara Kenyon Photography |©Tamara Kenyon Photography |©Tamara Kenyon Photography |©Tamara Kenyon Photography |©Tamara Kenyon Photography |

Last Minute Gifts under $100 (That will arrive in time for Christmas!)

Ok procrastinators…this one is for you (and me)! I have a few last minute gifts to grab myself, so here is a list of some luxe gifts that are under $100 and will arrive in time for Christmas.

Fresh Lip Balm Set I absolutely love these lip balms. They are so moisturizing and add a lovely color to your lips!

La Mer Gift Set I am a La Mer devotee and use both of the products in this gift set daily.

Patagonia Better Sweater I love Patagonia not only because of the quality of their products, but also for their company ethics. This also comes in 8 color options, but I do think the green is so pretty and perfect for Christmas.

YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick This is a great deal for this gift set! I have a few of these lipsticks and they are amazing with vibrant and very long lasting color.

Voluspa Candle Gift Set These candles are amazing! You could even break this up into 4 small hostess gifts or stocking stuffers.

Sam Edelman Loafers These Gucci looking loafers look so much more expensive than they are. They come in 9 color options.

Ugg Slippers You can never go wrong with cozy slippers

Le Creuset Au Gratin Dishes I received these as a birthday gift from a friend this year and they are fabulous!

LED Makeup Mirror The rose gold is so pretty and the lighting is adjustable to be perfect for everyone.

Cashmere Turtleneck I bought the black one and was blown away by the quality for the price. It’s under $50 and comes in 10 colors, and I will definitely be snagging a few more colors myself. (I sized up one size for a more relaxed fit.)

Mesh Leggings I’ve been hearing a lot of great things about this brand. These look like expensive Lululemon leggings, and from what I hear the quality is on par with the more expensive brand. Might have to gift these to myself!

Slide Sandals These are a great price and look a lot more expensive than they are. I think I’m going to snag these for my hubby.

North Face Gloves Cozy and touch screen friendly

Zella Training Pants Pants he can lounge in or work out in

Jack Black Bath & Body Set Comes with a carrying bag to take along to the gym or when traveling

Micro Bluetooth Speaker  Portable and durable speaker

Watch Perfect rugged watch for the outdoorsy guy

Cashmere Sweater Classic v-neck sweater and comes in 13 color options

Carhartt Beanie My husband loves these beanies and probably has at least 10 of them. But my kids insisted on ordering him another one as their gift to him this year.

Hermes Deodorant My hubs loves Hermes grooming products and it looks fancy sitting on the bathroom counter. Yes it’s a super expensive deodorant, but it’s a fun bit of luxury for a price that won’t completely break the bank.

Fitness Tracker Perfect for the fitness minded guy, and it’s completely waterproof so he can wear it all day.

Happy shopping!

Countdown to Christmas

It’s officially one more week to Christmas!!! It has really crept up on me this year and I’m not feeling completely ready. There is still so much to be done, and I am also feeling that we haven’t gotten to have enough Christmas fun yet! I’m hoping we can fit a lot in over the next seven days. This past weekend was a busy one and a good kick off to our final week! First up was Cole’s school Christmas program on Friday afternoon. Evan wasn’t too thrilled about snapping a pic after we got home, but we were all so proud of our Cole bug!Processed with VSCO with a6 presetProcessed with VSCO with a6 presetSweater: Topshop (old – similar here, here, here, here) // Jeans: Mother // Booties: Sam Edelman // Bag: Chanel // Sunglasses: Celine

On Saturday we headed up the mountain for our first ski day of the season! I gotta admit, our first run of the day was a little rocky with the kids feeling a bit rusty, but by the end of the day it was all smiles and Evan finally figured out how to wedge!45F71031-191E-47E5-A224-0749B279C956B6D5FDB8-7604-47BE-A678-6C740D267E26

Sunday was a lazy day of Gingerbread house making and movie watching! We finally gave in to the hype and watched The Christmas Chronicles on Netflix. It is really cute!51E129D1-AEA7-4894-9D0B-A60C1C672062

Last night was Evan’s turn for his preschool Christmas program! It was an extra special evening for our family since it was his first ever school program. We made a huge deal of it, and we all got dressed up along with him to go cheer for our little guy! It was so cute – as we were waiting for him to come out, Cole told me that he felt more nervous for Evan than he had at his own school performance…and it just melted my heart. Those two really do have a special bond. The program was adorable beyond words and we were just so proud of our little Evan!Processed with VSCO with a6 presetSweater: Amazon (Cashmere and under $50! This is an incredible buy and I will be ordering more colors) // Skirt: Chicwish // Belt: Gucci // Pumps: Christian Louboutin // Bag: Celine9778941C-2747-4DCE-B203-369FF0B7D4D2Cole’s Sweater: Gap // Corduroys: H&M // Shoes: Gap  —  Evan’s Top & Vest: H&M // Bow: Amazon // Pants: Target // Shoes: GapD7B8A541-46E8-4904-8E0F-748FEFFA40EA5BE9A2D1-DC1F-4A94-990F-53D54C46CAB75AC08A8A-2CF5-47B2-AFEC-CB75C83D6DF9

Evan’s little preschool is located in a neighborhood near our home, and the school reserved the community clubhouse for the school program which was such a lovely venue! Everyone was asked to bring an appetizer or dessert, and after the performance we got a chance to visit with other families and have some delicious food. I brought these brie cranberry bites, which are so incredibly simple and perfect for a holiday gathering.070C3653-0AE5-4CF1-8EF4-695786933897

1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed)

3/4 cup cranberry sauce

8 oz brie cheese

1-2 sprigs fresh rosemary

Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Using a knife or a pizza cutter cut the dough into 12 equal pieces. Place each piece in the cup of a 12-cup muffin baking pan. You want each the 4 sides to slightly poke over the top of the cup.

Cut the brie into 1-inch pieces. Place a piece into each cup.

Evenly distribute the cranberry sauce in the cups over the brie. You will use about 1 – 1 1/2 tsp per cup.

Pull the rosemary apart and place a small sprig on top of each cup.

Bake for 15 minutes. The puff pastry should be golden brown. remove from oven and allow the cups to sit for a few minutes to slightly cool. Use a small butter knife to carefully release the bites from the baking pan.

I’m hoping to get lots of wrapping done today while the kids are at school, and order the last few gifts on my list – nothing like Amazon Prime to enable procrastination!
