Five Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

With our first (and hopefully last) pandemic Thanksgiving next week, today I wanted to share a few looks for a little holiday outfit inspiration! Like most people, our holiday will look quite different this year as we won’t be getting together with friends or family. However I still wanted to come up with some ideas for celebrating in style no matter what your holiday may look like this year.

Festive Casual

A bright colored top in a cheery fall color is sure to make you feel a bit more festive even if you’re staying in. And it will look really cute on those zoom family gatherings!

Top | Jeans | Booties (similar) | Bag

Outdoor Layers

Many people are moving their celebrations outdoors this year, which is significantly safer with Covid but of course may be a bit chilly. Keep warm with lots of layers and some cozy boots.

Sweater | Tee (similar) | Leggings | Boots | Hat (similar) | Bag

Cozy Comfort

A cozy jogger outfit with slippers seems very fitting this year, and it’s the perfect outfit for curling up on the sofa in and getting a head start on those Black Friday online sales.

For the Turkey Trot

If you’re headed out for a run, walk, or bike ride this is the perfect athleisure look to keep you warm and still look cute.

Classic Neutrals

This holiday may be a lot different this year, but classic corduroy pants with a cashmere sweater are always traditional.

My Picks From The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

My Picks From The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

( Coats:  Left | Center | Right )

I debated if I wanted to blog about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year or not. Last year I felt the sale was not very well run as I received multiple incorrect orders, had tons of cancellations, and even had some of my orders shipped to the wrong people. And when I previewed the sale a few weeks back, I was a bit disappointed in the offerings this year as many of the same items from last year were included again this year. But a few days ago a friend of mine reached out sharing some of her picks from the sale and asking me what I was going to buy…and it was kind of a fun reprieve to talk about shopping instead of so many other hardships we’ve both been personally facing, as well as the stress of the global pandemic. The sale has been a tradition for me for so many years, so this weekend I took another look and ended up adding a number of things to my wishlist. This year I’m definitely gravitating towards athleisure and lots of cozy sweaters.

One | I was eyeing this sweater awhile back but never pulled the trigger, so I added it to my wishlist when I saw it in the sale. I’m really drawn to this rust color for fall, and I always love a good chunky sweater.

Two | This sweatshirt and matching palazzo pants are a dark horse surprise for me. This is exactly what I want to live in all winter long.

Three | A cheery little athleisure tank to wear for the rest of summer

Four | Every year I think about buying these, and every year I pass because I already have a few pairs of faux leather leggings. This is the year that I’m thinking I definitely need to buy them as slightly dressed up leggings will make me feel more fancy at home.

Five | So different than anything I own, and I’m really wanting to try these out

Six | Perfect for the rest of summer

Seven | I love the color and button detail on this AllSaints sweater

Eight | I have 3 pairs of these pajamas, and I think I’ll buy another set this year. They come in several fun color options this year too.

Nine | These Patagonia sweaters are a workhorse piece that are so versatile. From wearing as a fall jacket, to a layering piece during the winter, this is a piece I’m sure to get a lot of use out of.

Ten | This is pretty pricey for a wool sweater, but the color and cut are perfection

Eleven | Really loving everything about this cashmere sweater from the color, to the rib detail, to the oversize cut. I can see this paired with skinny jeans and sneakers.

Twelve | This is a great price for a classic cashmere sweater. This one looks identical to the Vince cashmere sweater I purchased in the sale last year that I paid four times more for. It comes in 6 different colors as well.

Thirteen | I can see this cashmere tunic worn with everything this fall and winter. A great basic workhorse piece. It comes in several color options too. It’s still pricey, but a very good price for Nordstrom cashmere.

Fourteen | I really like the oversize cozy look of this sweater. This one is already selling fast, so I don’t expect it to last long, but it’s still well stocked in this pretty cinnamon color.

Fifteen | I’ve been really drawn to light wash jeans lately and these are probably my favorite jeans in the sale

Sixteen | This under $100 teddy coat would be perfect for throwing over my sweats for grocery runs

Seventeen | I stock up on this lotion every year for the whole family to use

Eighteen | While I’m loving the lighter washed, distressed jeans I listed above, these are definitely more practical for me. Just the perfect mid-wash color jean.

Nineteen | Another sweater I think is pretty pricey as it’s wool, but it is perfect v-neck slouchy goodness. Also comes in a pretty blue color.

Twenty | This is one of my favorite leave in conditioners, and I love that it comes with an oil too

Twenty One | I like the light color of this cutting board. It would make a lovely gift as well for the holiday season.

Twenty Two | This is one of my favorite brands for booties, and I especially love this cognac color (they come in 5 colors)

Twenty Three | I love the color combo of these Nikes

Twenty Four | I foresee a lot more time at home in the coming months, and you can never have enough cozy blankets

Twenty Five | This is my favorite brand of lip color, and this set is a great value

And a few picks for my boys…

Fashionable Face Mask Finds

Masks are definitely here to stay for the time being, and I’m happy to see that there are some stylish options out there! I have to admit – I don’t hate wearing them because I’m not a fan of forced chatting when I run into people when I’m out and about (now I get to be incognito!), plus I don’t need to worry about make up at all when I go out since I’m covered up anyway. And I kinda love the idea of making them a fashion accessory which makes them a little more fun to wear too! Today I’m sharing some really fashionable mask finds that I’ve rounded up.

MasksOne | Two | Three | Four | Five | Six | Seven | EightNineTenEleven | Twelve | ThirteenFourteenFifteen

In all seriousness, Covid-19 is very concerning as it can be so dangerous – even to individuals that don’t seem high risk. A young, healthy nurse practitioner just passed away from it here in the Boise area just a few days after being diagnosed. Our family is taking every precaution we can as it would be devastating for Evan, and my husband also has some underlying health issues which could make it more dangerous for him as well. Please mask up to protect yourself and others, continue to socially distance, and practice good hand hygiene! We can do this!

Recent Buys…

Today I wanted to share a round up of a few recent purchases that I’m really loving! (Please excuse the wrinkles – I literally tried most of these on right after getting them.)

I actually got this top awhile back, but wanted to include it because it’s on major sale (and comes in a few other colors too).

Similar Tee | Skirt | Sneakers | Bag

I’ve been really loving the leopard midi skirt trend but a satin version isn’t super practical for “mom life.” This version is much more wearable for everyday, and with sneakers it’s perfect for errands.

Dress | Belt (old – similar) | Similar Shoes

I bought this dress last year in purple and really loved it, so when I saw it was available again this year in white I snapped it up! Just a great simple white dress.

Dress | Similar Sandals

This dress is literally a throw on and go dress. Its knit so there’s no wrinkles and it has pockets.

Dress | Similar Sandals

All of the reviews said this dress ran really large so I sized down. It’s a bit snug in the bust, so I kinda wish I had gone with my normal size – but as the rest of the dress is voluminous (and I can see why people say it fits large) I think I’ll keep this size. It’s such a great color – and as you can see I’m really loving the tie waist shirt dress silhouette.

Dress | Similar Sandals

SO. COMFORTABLE. This dress feels like pajamas but it fits so cute.

Top (sold out – similar) | Jeans | Similar Sandals

Puffy sleeves! I love a good puffy sleeve top and this one will go with pretty much anything. These jeans aren’t new, but I just ordered a 2nd identical pair in the Amazon sale because I love them so much and wear them constantly.

I remember seeing these around the holidays and missed out on them. I just found them again for this steal of a deal and I think they will be great with sweaters this fall and winter.

Adult Masks | Kids Masks

These are a super affordable 5 pack and the colors are fun

Joggers | Shorts | Space Tee | Stripe Tee

Despite Evan’s long hospitalization, he’s had a major growth spurt and nothing fits him! I wanted to get him a few new summer options and create a little capsule wardrobe to get us through the next few months.

Little boys Veja’s…so stinking cute.

Pajamas For Hot Summer Nights

Pajamas (sold out – similar here & here) | Slippers

With not a ton going on these days, I’ve been upping my pajama and loungewear game. As the days have gotten hotter, it’s nice having some warm weather pajamas that still look cute enough that I can drink my coffee in them out on the patio in the mornings! Today I’ve rounded up some cute options for hot summer nights.

SummerPajamasOne | Two | Three | Four | Five | Six | Seven | EightNine | Ten | ElevenTwelve

One | I have the pants version of these, and the fabric is so incredibly soft and comfortable

Two | These have over 2,000 reviews and are super affordable

Three | These satin pjs are so pretty

Four | Tons of rave reviews and only $22

Five | This little romper is on sale, and this is such a fun and different option

Six | If you don’t want to get shorts, you could try these capris

Seven | This lemon print set screams summer

Eight | These are just so classic

Nine | A nightshirt is another fun option

Ten | These flamingo print pjs are so sweet

Eleven | Mint green is so fresh feeling

Twelve | This jersey set looks incredibly comfortable

For the 4th of July, I always like to dress in festive red, white, and blue options but also keep things a bit more elevated than a full on flag tee or something. Plus these pieces can be worn all summer long! I thought today I would share a few outfit ideas I’ve put together from my own closet, as well as some other pieces I’m loving.

LoveShackFancy x Target Review

I’m not one to really jump on the bandwagon of Target’s designer collabs, but this is one I was really excited about. Ok not excited enough to set my alarm for 2 am to shop online when the collection dropped, but excited enough to head to my local Target this week to see it in person. And surprisingly yes, my Target did have a pretty large selection still available! I ended up grabbing several dresses and today I’m going to share what I bought and my honest opinion of each piece. I’ll also share my opinion of a few dresses I did see in person, but didn’t end up bringing home.

Estelle Dress

This dress is probably my favorite and also by far the most impractical. We do have family photos coming up in a few weeks, so I grabbed it thinking this is most likely what I will wear. This one retails for $60 and is 100% cotton. It’s a lightweight cotton, but it doesn’t seem to be sheer at all. The sleeves can be worn off the shoulder as well, and I just think it is so pretty and feminine – and I love the color! I don’t have many places to wear this to beyond family photos, but it’s nice to have something on hand for a last minute shower or something. (I’m wearing a size 4)

Lou Dress

This is another that caught my eye on the website before I went in store. It is so girly & just such a sweet little summer dress. It is 100% cotton and lined. While honestly none of these dresses feel any higher quality than something you would typically grab at Target, this is decently made. It looks very much like a typical LoveShackFancy piece and I’ve been really feeling lavender lately. The biggest thing I dislike about the dress is how short it is. I know this brand tends to run short, but I was surprised how short this is on me at 5’3″. I do think I will keep it, but I will likely wear it with flats to make it feel a bit more modest. (This one retails for $50 and I’m wearing a size small)

Talulah Dress

I actually don’t own a simple white summer dress like this, and this is something that could easily be worn all summer long. It also looks really similar to LoveShackFancy pieces from the designer line as well. This one is lined and not see through which is always key to a good white dress. Again, this is another super short dress & I’ll probably wear it with sneakers or flat sandals. And after seeing this photo I’m definitely going to have to get a little sunshine before I wear this one! (Wearing a size small and this one retails for $55)

Camille Dress

This one was a bit of an impulse purchase. House dresses are having a moment, and I envisioned myself wearing this around the house as a slightly more fashionable mumu. In reality, I’m not feeling this one at all. It’s very shapeless and maternity looking. This one is also a size too big as my size wasn’t available, but I don’t like it enough to exchange it so I’ll be returning this one. Something nice I will say about it is that it is fully lined and feels more well made than some of the other dresses (Wearing a size medium and it retails for $50)

What I saw in store, but didn’t buy…

Fluer Dress

I really disliked the chiffon fabric of this in person. Yes it won’t wrinkle as easily as the cotton options, but it felt significantly cheaper. I’m not sure how I feel about the ruffle right under the bust either. This one retails for $55

Elise Dress

This one looks so cute in photos, but I hated the fabric in person. It’s shiny and looks/feels very cheap. This one retails for $55

Cécile Dress

Another dress with shiny, cheap feeling fabric. Had this been made in a different fabric I think it would have been so cute, because I love the style and color. This one is one of the most affordable pieces at $45.

img_5310.jpgJeanne Dress

I think this dress would be cute for someone in their teens or twenties, but it just felt too twee for my tastes. That said, it could be a really cute swimsuit coverup or dress to wear to the beach or a pool party, but I just couldn’t see myself wearing this out and about anywhere else. It is the most affordable piece at $40.

Gemma Dress

This was one I really liked online, but I was disappointed with in person. It was so thin and see through, and looked more like a nightgown than a dress. This one retails for $60.

A quick check online shows that so many of these dresses have sold out or only a few sizes remain, but check your local store! Mine actually had a very large inventory even days after the sale went live. I’ve also heard a rumor that stores may be restocking next week as well.

Best Of Memorial Day Sales

Eight | A great deal on a classic sneaker! Can be worn with anything from jeans, to shorts, to sundresses. Ordered

Nine | I would love to upgrade the dresser in the boys’ room. This one looks so much more expensive than it is.

Ten | We don’t have much of a yard, but would still love to plant a little garden on our patio. I’ve been looking for a raised bed like this.

Happy Memorial Day! Thankful today and everyday for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we all enjoy today.

Quarantine Favorites

Being in the hospital for nearly 3 months has been a special kind of quarantine experience. The hospital only allows one parent to visit at a time, and you have to have daily screening/temperature checks, as well as wear a mask anytime you leave your room. It has definitely been very isolating and tough, so I’ve tried to bring as many comforts from home as I can to get Evan and I through!

Cozy Loungewear Set

This set is so soft, cozy, and affordable! You could definitely sleep in it, but it looks pulled together enough to wear out. I’ve been wearing mine here in the hospital a ton!

Top | Joggers

Comfortable Yet Stylish Joggers

I love these so much I bought 3 colors. They are fitted but still super comfortable and soft.

Skims Bra

I wanted a few basic bralettes that would be soft and comfortable. I ordered this in 2 colors and I’ve been loving them so far.

I wanted a pair of slippers I could toss after our few months in the hospital. These look like Uggs but at a tiny fraction of the price.

Pillow Spray

This spray helps us get a good night’s sleep (which is no easy feat in the hospital!), plus it makes our room smell so nice

Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve

With the constant hand washing these days, a good hand cream is in order. One of my friends gave this to me and I absolutely love it.

There’s nothing like a good book to pass the time. I found the Elizabeth Holmes documentary so fascinating that I decided to read the book too. It’s incredibly well written and a total page turner.

Hair Treatment

My hair isn’t getting much love these days, and who knows when I’ll be able to make it to the salon again. In the meantime, this 8 second treatment is a nice (and quick!) conditioning treatment.

img_4714.jpgHair Treatment

Le Creuset Dutch Oven

Okay I haven’t actually used this one yet being in the hospital, but my family gifted me this Dutch oven for Mother’s Day which has been on my wishlist for ages. And Le Creuset just happens to be having a sale which literally NEVER happens. I can’t wait to go home and cook all of our quarantine meals in this.

Dutch Oven

I’ve been documenting Evan’s recovery journey in photos and I also plan to spend a lot more time practicing photography when I get home. It’s such a fun hobby for me, and I think having a hobby during this stressful time is so important.

Minecraft Set

Evan is loving all things cheery and cozy, and he is obsessed with Minecraft. One of his therapists gifted him this cozy blanket and the Easter bunny brought him the fun matching pillow!

Blanket | Pillow

Kids Sweatpants

This 3 pack of joggers is a steal and Evan’s therapists are always commenting on how soft they are (and they all wanted to know where to get them for their own kids!).

Monkey Noodles

Evan was given a few of these at the hospital and he loves them. They are a great little fidget toy.

Monkey Noodles

Suspicion Game

Cole got this board game in his Easter basket, and we got to play it together a few times before Evan and I left for Utah. Board games can be hit or miss with Cole, but he really loves this one (and it’s even pretty fun for grownups!).

When Evan isn’t in therapy, there isn’t a whole lot to do since most of the hospital activities are closed up right now due to Covid. So we’ve been on a movie marathon and are making our way through the whole Disney catalogue!
