Thanksgiving Outfit Inspiration

While Thanksgiving is all about the food, I still like to plan a cute outfit as well! With lots of cooking, a big meal to enjoy, and the dreaded dishes after – being comfortable is also really important. Today I wanted to share a few Thanksgiving outfit ideas I’ve put together!

Maxi Dress

Dress | Belt | Boots

You can never go wrong with a maxi dress when it comes to being comfortable and looking stylish! I love the leopard print of this one which is perfect for fall.

Leather Leggings with a Tunic Sweater

Sweater | Leggings (H&M, sold out – similar) | Loafers

Leggings are the perfect stretchy comfort piece, but take them up a notch by wearing leather!

Sweater Dress

Sweater dress (Topshop, old – similar) | Boots (Tory Burch, old – similar)

Another cozy option that is perfect for blending style with comfort.

Corduroys with a Lace Top

Top | Bottoms | Heels (Kurt Geiger, old – similar)

Instead of my typical jeans, I love the idea of switching them out for a pair of cords. These are really stretchy so they are very comfortable as well. I tend to gravitate towards neutrals, but a bright top would be cute paired with these as well.

Sweater and Maxi Skirt

Sweater (Vince – similar) | Skirt | Booties

Another really comfortable option that still looks festive and pulled together.

There’s A New Animal In Town: Zebra Print

There’s A New Animal In Town: Zebra Print

Sweater | Jeans | Boots | Bag

As you’ve probably noticed, animal prints are having a moment. Snakeskin has been a huge trend this year, and leopard is also more popular than ever. But this season there’s a new print to embrace…zebra! Today I’m sharing some of my favorite zebra print picks, including my adorable sweater I grabbed the other day (and the price can’t be beat!). I think it looks great with jeans and boots, but would also be so cute dressed up for the holidays too. Also I just have to say…these boots are on major sale and I absolutely love and highly recommend them! (And they come in five color options)

Fall Craving: Houndstooth

Fall Craving: Houndstooth

Jacket: Ralph Lauren (old, similar here & here) // Sweater // Jeans (AG old, similar) // Flats // Bag // Necklace // Sunglasses

Evan’s Shirt (Gymboree – similar here, here, here) // Jeans // Shoes

Ev and I ran some errands the other day, and it is finally cold enough here to start wearing jackets and sweaters! I bought this coat last winter, and while it isn’t quite warm enough for winters here, it’s a perfect fall coat. Houndstooth is trending really strongly again and I keep gravitating towards it when I’m browsing online for a few fall updates for my wardrobe! Here’s a few pieces I’m loving…

One  Super affordable oversize blazer. Comes in 2 color options.

Two This bomber is literally perfection.

Three How chic is this cute little dress?! Under $35.

Four Step up your footwear game this fall with these booties.

Five Designer splurge under $200.

Six Such a cozy looking sweater.

Seven Channel your inner Kate Middleton in this under $20 cape.

Eight Another similar option to my houndstooth coat. So perfect for fall.

Nine Not sure about houndstooth? Dip your toe in the trend with a subtle accessory.

Ten Two trends in one piece – turban headband in a houndstooth print.

Eleven I adore the buttons on this darling dress.

Twelve I’m digging this whole look with the leather jacket and sneakers.

Thirteen Super affordable and a great color.

Fourteen I just bought this jersey knit blazer which looks structured but feels like a sweatshirt. Polished and comfortable which is perfect for a mom looking to dress up a basic jeans/tee look.

Fifteen Super ladylike take on the trend.

Fall Craving: Leopard

If you haven’t already noticed, leopard is everywhere for fall. I have always loved leopard because while it is a bold print, it is still really easy to wear as you can truly wear it like a neutral and pair it with anything. I have several leopard pieces in my closet, but I’m definitely looking to add a dress and a sweater or two. Here’s a few pieces I’ve been loving…

One – This looks so much more expensive than it is! I just ordered this one.

Two – A furry leopard coat is a must have. This one is under $100.

Three – A minimal and sophisticated take on the trend.

Four – A splurge, but these are seriously the cutest.

Five – A classic style and cashmere at a great price.

Six – The wear with anything skirt.

Seven – I love the dark print and balloon sleeves on this one.

Eight – Love this fun, bold print.

Nine – The perfect fall bootie.

Ten – A great neutral taupe and super affordable.

What I Bought At The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

I’m not gonna lie – the anniversary sale this year wasn’t a whole lot of fun to shop. I (like many people!) had tons of orders canceled, received someone else’s order by mistake, and had a shipping snafu where my order got shipped somewhere else by mistake and then returned (and cancelled). Despite it being a headache – I did manage to get a few really nice, basic pieces that I feel will be a great base to my fall wardrobe. And I most importantly was able to get my kids the North Face coats that we loved so much last year in a size up for when they outgrow their current ones!

Cashmere sweater (also comes in gray) // Jeans // Booties

This sweater is a splurge, but Vince really has incredible quality cashmere. (I am wearing a size small) My favorite N sale purchase out of all the years I’ve been shopping was a Vince cashmere sweater I bought years ago (and still have!). I always feel a high quality, simple, classic piece like this is worth spending a little extra on. And I think this color will be so pretty for fall (and kinda perfect for Thankgiving!). The only pair of jeans I ordered from the sale (and really wanted) ended up getting sold out and my order was cancelled. So I ordered these on Amazon Prime day…and I looove them! I’m wearing a size 4/27 – they don’t have a whole lot of stretch so size up if you are in between sizes. I had thought about getting the popular Vince Camuto booties (that sold out in 2 seconds) but I honestly like the color of these booties better.

Tee // Cardigan (purchased last year but available again this year) // Jeans // Booties

I love the little extra detail on the shoulder of this tee – which makes it cute on its own but will also be cute paired under cardigans come fall. (It is also a pretty great A.LC. Karlie Tee dupe!) It fits a bit fitted but not tight – but if you are in between sizes or want a looser fit I would size up. (I’m wearing a small) I really had my fingers crossed these booties wouldn’t be cancelled – and I got lucky that they were the one item I actually got fulfilled out of my first order placed! (I would say they fit true to size) They are sold out in snakeskin, but they are available in a few other colors. I purchased this Madewell cardigan last year which they brought back this year. I have it in a few colors and if it pops up available in your size – I highly recommend it! (I’m wearing an xs)

Bodysuit // Jeans // Booties

This body suit is another great staple piece, and reminds me of the more expensive Free People version. I’m wearing a size small and it fits me perfectly – but I would say that if I was much taller I think it would be a bit short in the torso (I’m 5’4″).

I bought a pair of these at last years N sale – and they have become my favorite pair. They do run a little big, but I still buy my true size small as I love them a bit oversized. If you missed out on these – check back periodically. Nordstrom has these on sale every so often.

Top // Bottoms // Sneakers

I really needed a cozy sweatsuit to wear around that house, that also looks put together enough to wear if we have company or if I need to run a quick errand or school run. I was pleasantly surprised by how soft it is, and I will definitely be wearing this a ton come fall. I’m wearing a size small in both pieces.

Pullover // Bottoms // Sneakers // Jacket

I had my eye on this pullover ever since seeing it in the catalogue. I had gone back and forth on getting it, but after all the sweaters I ordered got cancelled I figured I would get this instead. I am always looking for athleisure pieces for “mom life” outfits – and this really is kinda perfect for throwing on with leggings or sweats. (I’m wearing a size small) I also wanted a new pair of Nikes and decided to go with gray instead of my usual black, and I love the rose gold detail on these. I also had ordered this jacket the first day of the sale and it was cancelled. One day I was randomly scrolling to see if anything was re-stocked and this was there (in all colors & sizes!). Of course by the end of the day it was sold out again but not before I snagged it! I’ve seen it pop back up available a few times since I bought it so keep your eye out for restocks on this one. This jacket is perfect for school runs, errands, and even skiing! I would say it runs true to size, but I sized up to a medium so I can layer thicker pieces under it come winter.

BPSweatsuitTop // Bottoms

Because I’m really feeling the love for sweatsuits, I ordered this set too…and something happened on shipment and the carrier sent it to the wrong state and it ended up getting returned to sender. And it sold out right after I ordered it. I spoke to customer service and they agreed to honor the sale price if it comes back in stock after the sale is over (I have a feeling it will as most sale items come back) and if so I will be re-ordering this.

Spanx // Candles

In lieu of any lingerie picks this year, I decided to grab a new pair of Spanx! I have a pair of bottoms but not a full body set like this. And it is nice not paying full price for Spanx which don’t typically go on sale. I also grabbed a set of candles for the house. These are such a fun splurge and a great price for a little luxury item.

Big Boys Coat // Little Boys Coat // Little Boys Jeans

I did manage to get the boys the North Face coats we love so much in bigger sizes for them to grow into. The big boys jeans sold out SO fast, but I was able to get Evan a pair. Joe’s makes great jeans for kids. I have a pair that has gone through both kids and still look brand new. I’m kinda bummed that these were gone so quickly as the price was amazing and both boys really do need jeans – but The Rack often gets these as well so I’ll be checking there! I like these jeans so much I would even be willing to pay full price and get Cole a pair once they come back into stock.

Kid’s Patagonia

I bought Evan this jacket last year and it still fits him (and is still in great shape!). This is a great little cozy jacket and I highly recommend it if it comes back into stock. It also makes for a cute mommy and me look with the ladies Patagonia!

The sale still has a few more days before prices go back up, and I may decide to grab a few more goodies I’ve had my eye on that are still in stock. Here are my favorites of what’s left!

My last minute picks of the sale…

Life Lately

Life Lately

At the start of summer I (foolishly) convinced myself we wouldn’t be all that busy. I would have tons of time to study for my nursing refresher, finish all the projects I have lined up around the house, and of course keep my kids perfectly busy and entertained every day. Ha! I’m not exactly new to this mom thing so I certainly should have known better! While I feel like I’m doing a pretty good job making the kids summer fun & keeping them engaged with lots of activities…I’m really slacking on the personal front. I’m really behind on my studies, I have only begun getting some of my home projects rolling and I haven’t been getting many workouts in. Motherhood is ALWAYS humbling and a reminder that you can’t be superwoman and something always has to give. But right now, I am enjoying the time I’ve been spending with my kids and the memories we are making this summer. And I know I will finish everything – it’s just taking me longer than I had planned! Such is life.

What we’ve been up to…

First – we got our family photos back! We work with Tamara Kenyon (who is the most amazing photographer here in Boise!) and as always, I’m thrilled with how they turned out. Here’s a few of my favorites:

My dress  //  Cole’s shirt/shorts  //  Evan’s shirt/shorts (similar)

This year we purchased passes to the local waterpark – Roaring Springs – and we’ve been spending a lot of time there. It is actually a great waterpark and a ton of fun! It has even received recognition for being one of the top water parks in the country on TripAdvisor. We’ve also got Evan in swim lessons downtown every Saturday morning. It’s a little rough forcing ourselves up and out the door every Saturday, but it’s also kind of nice getting an early start to the day/weekend – plus we’ve been going out for breakfast every week after his class is over! We’ve been going to The Griddle and it has become one of our favorite breakfast places.

Breakfast quesadilla – highly recommend that and their breakfast burrito! I also love their omelettes. Their sweet options (like the waffle with a scoop of ice cream & their french toast) look incredible but we’ve yet to try them.

The other day I took the kids to the park and then somehow convinced them to also do a short hike (they may or may not have complained about being bored and hot the whole time). But I really enjoyed it and couldn’t believe how many wildflowers there are this late in the year!

We also spent an afternoon at our local zoo. They are currently undergoing some renovations so I’ve been excited to go check it out this summer! I think the new changes are going to be really positive and looking forward to seeing it once it’s completed later this summer.

I wore this outfit which has really become a summer uniform for me. This is now my 3rd pair of dark green, paper-bag style shorts that I’ve purchased this summer. They are just the perfect casual mom shorts, that still look pulled together and the color is a perfect neutral.

Tee // Shorts // Shoes // Bag // Necklace // Sunglasses

As you may have seen in my previous post, we went cherry picking last week which was a ton of fun for the whole family. If you live in the Boise area, you must get up to Emmett for fruit picking this summer! Such a short drive, yet you feel so removed from the city. I wore this outfit that day and I have to point out my new entry way mirror! Overhauling my entry way is on my to-do list and this mirror was my first update. I’m on the hunt for new lamps next!

My shirt (J Crew, old – similar here, here, here, here) // Jeans // Bag // Necklace // Lipgloss

Another home project I’ve been working on that is almost finished is my pantry – and I can’t wait to share about it on here soon! That has been a project that is literally years in the making. As in I’ve been staring at Pinterest inspiration for years and thinking “one day.” I’ve finally just bit the bullet and I am SO excited about how it has come together…and my family is pretty happy with how functional it has been for everyone too!

We also spent an afternoon at the Boise Train Depot this week and I wore this cute skirt that I scored on major sale! I can see it being styled so many different ways and will be wearing it a ton the rest of the summer.

Top // Skirt // Earrings // Similar bag

Have a great weekend!
