My Affordable Easter Tablescape

In years past I’ve always used my mother in law’s vintage Pottery Barn plates for our Easter tablescape, but I came across these darling pieces recently and decided to mix it up this year! I’m a huge fan of melamine plates for kids so I don’t have to worry about our sentimental pieces getting broken. Plus they are so affordable which makes them a great option for seasonal/holiday plates that don’t get used often. And despite being plastic, they actually look and feel very high quality! Here’s a little peek at how I will be setting our Easter table next Sunday.

Festive Thanksgiving Touches for the Kitchen

Just because large Thanksgiving gatherings may be a no-go this year, it doesn’t mean Thanksgiving is cancelled! I’m looking forward to celebrating with just my little family and will make sure that this year is still just as festive as always. I’m still going to cook our traditional Thanksgiving dinner and already have our house decorated with fall foliage and pumpkins. I’ve been on the hunt for some festive touches to add to the kitchen and our Thanksgiving table, and today wanted to share a few things I’ve come across.

Super Bowl Party Decor

The Super Bowl is two weeks away, and if you are like me…you may be more excited about the halftime show, the commercials, and the food. But in a house of all boys, I figure I may as well make it as fun as possible for me too! And any excuse to have a themed party is pretty much right up my alley. This year I’m planning on decorating and letting Cole invite a friend or two over for a little Super Bowl party, and today I wanted to share some cute decoration finds I’ve come across.

Valentines Inspired Finds For Around The Home

Valentines Inspired Finds For Around The Home

I always feel that my home looks so bare after taking down all of the Christmas decorations, so with Valentines Day around the corner, it gives me an excuse to add some cheerful decor! Valentines Day is definitely a holiday that can veer into (dare I say) cheesy territory, but by adding simple touches in red and pinks, it keeps things sophisticated. Also by sticking with florals and items that don’t scream Valentine’s Day, these decorations can stay up all spring as well! Today I wanted to share a few of my recent buys, as well as some other things I’m loving as well.

I found a few really cute things at Target for Valentine’s Day dinner like this cute heart embossed pitcher, glasses, serving utensils, and these blush napkins (which will be perfect for Easter too!). And how cute are these little pancake molds?! I can’t wait to make the kids some Valentines pancakes (dyed pink of course).

Now that the dust has settled from the Thanksgiving holiday, it’s time to get focused on Christmas! And this year there’s such a short time between the two holidays so it really feels like we have a lot to do in the next few weeks to get ready.

We did get our tree put up just before Thanksgiving, but didn’t get around to decorating it until a few days ago. The boys love to put the ornaments on, so they did most of it this year! With them back in school I found a little time this week to put our other Christmas decorations out including a second tree in our entry way. It has been so dark and gloomy outside here the last few days, but I have to admit I’m kind of enjoying the cozy ambiance it gives. I’m looking forward to lots of evenings by the fire drinking hot cocoa cuddled in a furry throw watching Christmas movies.

In addition to sharing our home at Christmas, I also wanted to share a few other decor items I’m loving – and many of them would make great gifts as well!

Halloween (And Fall) Decor Around Our Home

Every year I am always so excited to pull out all of our fall and Halloween decorations and start making our home feel festive. We typically make a fun Sunday afternoon of it, and turn on a Halloween movie to watch while we decorate. Most years we wait until just after Cole’s birthday, but this year I really couldn’t wait and we decorated about a week before his party. While our decorations have now been up for several weeks, I’m finally getting around to sharing all of the fall and Halloween touches around our house!

My Pantry Reveal: Before and After

My Pantry Reveal: Before and After

This project has been on my to-do list since we moved last summer. And between now and then I’ve spent tons of time looking at Pinterest inspo and dreaming of one day having an organized pantry. I came to realize a few things which finally motivated me to get in gear and get this finished: one – we waste a ton of food. When the pantry is stuffed to the brim and things are crammed in there, we can’t see what we really have and we end up buying too much, or things expire and go to waste because they are lost in the black hole. And two – my kids constantly seem to be whining they are hungry and wanting snacks, and have difficulty finding things on their own. Again because of things hiding in boxes crammed behind other things. I really wanted my pantry to become a beautiful space that was functional – with everything clearly visible in clear containers. I really couldn’t be happier how everything came together and am absolutely loving this new functional pantry!

For a bit of perspective – here is my before pic. And this isn’t the worst of it (I really should have taken a true before!). This was after a bit of organizing to get a sense of what organization containers I wanted to buy/figure out how many I needed. Believe it or not, it actually looked quite a bit worse than this. And it was impossible to find anything!

My search started at The Container Store. I was on the hunt for clear bins in various sizes to sort kids snacks, chips, bread, etc. They have the best prices for simple, clear bins which is exactly what I wanted! I also ordered some of their stacking bins for canned goods, vitamins/medicine, and paper towels/toilet paper.

My kids love cereal, and I wanted to facilitate them being able to get themselves a quick breakfast. I found this cereal dispenser and knew it was a must have! I put a few favorites in the dispenser, with a few other options in clear bins below. I also wanted to keep all of the kids snacks all together at a low height where Evan can reach, so the bottom two shelves are full of bins of individual packaged snacks, and jars of dried snacks (popcorn, crackers, snack mix, etc)!

I found these canisters for all of my dried goods (like pasta, rice, popcorn, oats, etc), and I absolutely love having everything in clear, labeled containers! I can now see exactly what we have, and when we are running low.

Getting coffee in the morning is SO much easier now with our organized coffee station. Prior to this (embarrassingly) we had all of our Kureg cups thrown into a big box – and my husband & I were constantly digging through it to each find our coffee we like. And this cute cookie jar has literally been collecting dust for a few years – it is actually being put to use now! (And full of cookies!). I also got a few baskets to keep miscellaneous things like sodas, garbage bags, and my popcorn popper.

4th of July Tablescape Under $50

4th of July Tablescape Under $50

While out and about shopping the other day, I was grabbing a few last minute things to get ready for the 4th of July and stumbled upon these darling star plates for $1.50 each! They are reusable plastic so they would be perfect for an outdoor BBQ or picnic as well. And since I won’t exactly be using star plates very often, the price is really perfect! I found these in the 4th of July section at Target & unfortunately they aren’t available online (check your local store!), but I’m going to link some really similar ones below as well! I decided to put together a cute and festive tablescape for our family’s annual afternoon 4th of July BBQ & I love how it came together. I love using silver accents & galvanized serving trays for the 4th (it feels very Americana!) and I thought milk bottles for drinks added to the classic feel. I also plan to serve berries and pie with our meal – which will be pretty sitting on the table too. Everything is super affordable, and you can easily create this tablescape for under $50!

My silver pitcher is vintage Arthur Court (Similar), but here are a few other similar and super budget friendly options! (Option 1, Option 2, Option 3) I purchased my flowers at Trader Joe’s for around $15 (they have the best prices for flowers!) – but Costco has great deals too!
