Life Lately

Life Lately

Every year around mid February through the first half of March or so, like clockwork, I get in a funk. I’m at that point of winter where it really starts to affect me and I feel super lethargic and lack motivation to do anything. I just want to spend weekends curled up at home hibernating and am just over the crummy, cold weather. It was a worse February than most this year, with it snowing or raining nearly every single day. And it also probably doesn’t help that I’ve been battling a monthlong cold that just won’t quit. I’m really starting to crave sunshine, and on the first sunny, mild day we had recently – I felt like a new woman with more energy than I’ve had in ages! It has still been pretty cold here, but we’ve started to have some sunny days again I’m hopefully beginning to see my way out of my hermit tendencies of the past month!

Over the past weekend we finally went on our first family walk in ages. It felt so good to get outside and spend some time outdoors as a family. The kids could literally play with sticks and throw rocks in the river for hours.

We’ve also started working on some of our St Patrick’s Day traditions, planning a little spring break getaway, and looking forward to seeing good friends coming to town to visit this weekend. Boise’s annual Treefort Music Festival is also happening in a few weeks which is always a fun, family event! And we are also looking forward to the start of spring soccer (Evan is going to play this year!), the start of Evan’s swim lessons, and practicing for Coles annual Taekwondo tournament.

Watching: We’ve just finished watching She-Rah and the Princesses of Power series on Netflix and it is so good! My kids really enjoyed this show and it has great reviews. The second season is being released next month, so this is a great time to binge watch the first season with your kids! This probably shows my age, but I’ve been watching American Idol since the very first season, and am so excited that a new season started this week! They even came to Idaho for the first time, so it was fun to see some of the show’s footage of Coeur d’Alene.

Craving: I want everything spring, pastel, and floral printed right now, and and am loving so many Joie pieces at Saks Off 5th (one of my favorite places to shop for deals) – especially this gorgeous dress which would be perfect for Easter (I think I’m going to order it!). I’m also wanting to add a pair of straight leg slightly flared/cropped jeans to my wardrobe. Not sure that I’m cool enough for this style, but thinking about ordering these.

Ahh, Idaho weather. Just when you think we lucked out with a mild winter and an early spring, winter makes a big appearance during the second half of February. News reports are saying there is a (slim) possibility of getting 11 inches of snow over the coming weekend. It may end up being too warm and we will end up just getting a ton of rain – and I’m not sure which forecast sounds worse right now. Anyhow, I’m trying to make the most of it with wearing some of my favorite winter pieces and browsing sales for good deals on winter essentials.

Coat (J Crew, sold out – similar here, here & here) // Sweater  // Jeans // Boots // Hat

Coat // Sweater // Jeans // Boots // Sunglasses

My Sorel boots (I’m wearing above) are my most worn boots during the snowy season, and they are worth every penny. They truly keep your feet warm & dry (I even have them for both of my kids!) and this is a great time of year to snag them as the sales are fantastic! It’s also a great time to grab a warm coat (or two or three!), sweaters, and cozy accessories with all of the winter inventory going on sale.

The Perfect Lace Blouse Styled 6 Ways

Lace Blouse (also here)

I have been on the hunt for ages for the perfect lace blouse…as in I’ve been looking for probably 2 years now. I wanted it to be something that was very versatile and could be styled a multitude of ways, was lined, and looked luxe while not being crazy expensive. This blouse (which is under $100!) is pretty much everything my lace blouse dreams were made of! Today I’m sharing with you a fun little try-on session I had the other day coming up with some of my favorite ways to wear it!

I see myself wearing this blouse styled this way for the next month or two as a transition piece from winter to spring! I think it would also be really cute styled with my beige suede moto jacket as well.Blouse // Cardigan // Jeans // Booties // Similar Rag & Bone Hat // Bag

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, as well as February being heart month with many benefits/fundraisers happening, this would be a perfect romantic look for date night or outfit to wear to a dressy fundraiser.Blouse // Skirt (old DVF, similar here) // Shoes (amazing dupes here!) // Bag // Similar Earrings

SOFT

Even though it’s not exactly feeling like it outside at the moment, spring isn’t far away! I think this outfit would be perfect for a spring wedding, Easter, or for a baby/bridal shower. Blouse // Skirt (old ASOS, similar here) // Shoes (amazing dupes here!) // Bag // Similar Earrings

What To Wear To Disney World In January

What To Wear To Disney World In January

When you plan a trip south during the winter months, I know there is always the assumption that the weather is going to be warm. However after living in Southern California for eight years, I am well aware this isn’t always the case. When we planned our trip to Disney World for January, I expected the weather to be cooler and unpredictable and packed accordingly…and am so thankful I did because we had a few days there where the temps were nearly the same as it was back home in Idaho! I met a few gals at our hotel who were visiting from South America and had only brought shorts, and were pretty much freezing and miserable. We had pretty wild temperature swings while we were there, and it could be anywhere from 40 degrees to 70 degrees, even on the same day! We dressed in layers, and carried backpacks to carry extra layers or shed them during the warmest parts of the day. I packed a mix of short & long sleeve tees, sweatshirts, and warm coats for morning & evening. We also made sure to wear comfortable shoes, because we averaged 7-10 miles a day walking through the parks! Our hotel had laundromats located throughout the property, so we washed & re-wore things several times to cut down on the amount of stuff we brought, and it also allowed us to dry wet coats & shoes. I also packed things all in the same color scheme, so I could easily mix & match – and it all coordinated with my red & black sequin Minnie ears! The day we took off from going to the parks was actually quite warm, and we were able to go swimming – so I would recommend bringing a swimsuit even during the winter months! I also packed gloves for the kids for the evenings when it was coldest. Even though the weather certainly wasn’t hot, we enjoyed the mild temperatures since we were so active, as well as the overall smaller crowds in January – and we would definitely go visit in January again!

facetune_27-01-2019-20-08-40img_1038Ponchos are an absolute must to have on hand! I packed some disposable emergency ponchos so we could just toss them & not have to worry about bringing them back home. Also this stroller is amazing – I even got stopped by a few fellow parents who asked about it! It’s super affordable and is very sturdy, plus it has great storage, a reclining seat, and a sunshade.

snapseedFor our day off from the parks I felt like dressing up a bit! This dress is a few months old from H&M, but this is similar. My belt is here, and my shoes are J Crew & a few seasons old but these are similar.

Pastel Cravings

Sweater: BP (also comes in a gorgeous lavender color!), Jeans: AG, Boots: Sam Edelman, Bag: Fendi

As I talked about in a recent post we’ve been having the absolute craziest weather here in Idaho! At this time last year we were absolutely buried in feet of snow, and this year we have been having 50 to nearly 60 degree sunny days for pretty much the entire month of January. It has made for a lot of perfect running days and taking the kids outside to play! Cole went to a birthday party yesterday where they had a bounce house and the kids played outside (sans coats!) which is pretty much unheard of this time of year. I lived in Palm Springs, CA for six years and this weather is really reminding me of winter days there! All this sunshine has me craving pastel, spring colors and realized I didn’t actually have a lot in my wardrobe so I added a few fun sweaters that will be perfect for the next few months.IMG_5054IMG_5497Sweater: Gap, Jeans: AG, Beanie: J Crew (sold out – similar), Bag: Chloe, Boots: Hunter

IMG_5513Dress: Privacy Please, Shoes: Valentino, Bag: Chloe, Hat: J Crew (old – similar), Earrings: J Crew

Even though it will be a few months until I can wear it, I saw this dress and being on sale  I snapped it up! Pink is quickly becoming my favorite color lately and I can’t seem to resist it. I also may or may not have just splurged on a new bag simply because the pink lining was calling my name!!!

Looks like today is going to be another 50 degree day, so Ev and I are going to go for another long run. Five more weeks until my half marathon and I’m getting excited! Hope you have a wonderful Monday!

Sweatshirt: J Crew (sold out – similar), Jeans: Rag & Bone, Sneakers: Adidas, Backpack: Marc Jacobs

Just a quick post today sharing a few casual outfits from last week! This is definitely how I like to dress the majority of the time – jeans, sneakers, and often carrying a backpack when I’m out & about with the kids so I can be hands free! IMG_4722Sweater: Old Navy (this is a steal under $8!), Jeans: AG, Trench: Burberry (old style – similar), Shoes: Adidas, Bag: Chanel9F805F09-DA6C-4D12-B369-F895FC7A839CShirt: BP (old – similar), Jeans: AG, Jacket: H&M, Sneakers: Adidas

We’ve been keeping really busy the past few weeks with birthday parties, school activities, and fun outings with the kids…and I’ll be sharing Evan’s 3rd birthday party here in the next day or two! Evan has been so excited about his party, and we had so much fun celebrating him this weekend with some dear friends. And after a long break from running half marathons (I used to do several a year!), I finally signed up for another one with a girlfriend of mine! We’re keeping each other motivated to stay on track with our running schedules for the next few months and I’ll be sharing a bit about my workout routine as well.

Hope you have a great Monday and thanks for stopping by!
